Carroll County Restaurant Week

Restaurant Week began Sunday in Carroll County.  This is a great opportunity to dine in Carroll County and support our local businesses.  You can click here to view menus and for more information.

Income Based Flush Fee Applications

You may have seen the article in the Sunday edition of the Carroll County Times that many low income Carroll County families are not taking advantage of an exemption that can save them $60 a year.  It is likely that these residents are probably unaware that they can apply for this exemption to the annual Chesapeake Bay Restoration fee (the so-called flush fee).  All Carroll County Municipalities (city limits of Westminster, Hampstead, Manchester, etc.) offer this exemption.  Low-income residents may apply and need to contact their Municipal Government for more information and an application to receive this exemption.

MD 97 Road Closure:

Last week motorists on MD 97 (Littlestown Pike) between Westminster and Littlestown, Pa., were expecting to encounter temporary detours throughout the day on Sunday and Monday, August 11 – 12, due to an oversize load which was supposed to be traveling through the area. SHA scrapped the move do to safety concerns and to work with the contractor to reengineer a new plan.  The move has only been postponed, I will be sure to keep you informed about when this closure will be rescheduled. Sorry for any inconvenience as changes were being made and information changed several times.
